I don’t really know what to call this series of still life paintings I am doing. How about "Everyday Still Life’s?" I used ordinary objects to tell an abstract story. The objects are recognizable and ordinary and are interacting. We don’t dwell on them and say what a beautiful painting of that object. We look at them and ask what is going on here. We see the objects arranged in what, at first, seems a haphazard way. Then it seems they are interacting. We see some interacting and others not. The thick paint, made by adding cold wax, is applied with rough edges and gives a feeling of movement. The paint is applied with a palette knife. The clips and other objects have personalities and emotional complexity and are interacting.
